Alumni event photography in London (Apr 2016)
Lemn Sissay is a legend. Not only is he the new Chancellor for University of Manchester, and not only is he an excellent speaker, he's also a great person to photograph! Full of expression, passion and conviction. Which made the university alumni event in London a great photography opportunity at the Foundling Museum near Russell Square.
The Foundling Museum is an interesting venue. I won't lie, I'd never been there before and I'll admit that I hadn't even heard of it. From the outside it's a fairly standard looking brick building but once you step through the doors your jaw will probably hit the floor. The attention to detail in the decor is incredible, the lighting is beautiful and the staff are exceptional with their service.
Lemn spoke on a number of different issues, delivering a speech which was overflowing with enthusiasm (despite a technical problem meaning he had no access to his notes). People often say that your audience won't remember so much the words you're saying but they will always remember *how* you say it. This was a classic case, and I imagine everyone left feeling they were taking an element of Lemn's passion with them.
